The Traumatic Stress Institute fosters the transformation of organizations and service systems to trauma-informed care (TIC) through the delivery of whole-system consultation, professional training, coaching, and research.

Trainer Certification and Professional Development

Through the Train-the-Trainer events, TSI Faculty train Risking Connection (RC) Trainers and Champions as well as Restorative Approach Trainers. These staff become the leaders of change at the organization and help sustain TIC over time.
RC Trainers are formally credentialed and teach the RC Basic at their organization in an ongoing way. RC Champions teach about TIC in more informal, yet equally important, ways such as running team meetings and supervision using TIC practices or modelling TIC interventions with clients. RA Trainers formally teach the RA Basic training.
Trainers and Champions join an international community of professionals that are using TSI’s Whole-System Change Model in their organizations. They benefit from 4 in-person professional development events and 4 virtual webinars annually, taught by experts in the field, that help Trainers and Champions stay current on best practice and research related to trauma and TIC.
