The Sidran Institute – Past, Present, and Future

The Sidran Institute, known for over 25 years as an essential resource for survivors of trauma, their loved ones, and the providers who assist in their recovery, is now part of the Traumatic Stress Institute of Klingberg Family Centers.

In the late 1990’s Sidran hired the Traumatic Stress Institute (TSI) to write the Risking Connection® (RC) curriculum, a training manual for public mental health workers on how to effectively work with trauma survivors. This began a long and fruitful relationship between the organizations. For over twenty years Risking Connection has been used globally to train tens of thousands of professionals in how to address the practical, emotional, spiritual, and medical needs of trauma survivors.

TSI has been the leading licensed provider of RC training in the US (and beyond) and RC is the core component of its Whole-System Change Model to Trauma-Informed Care. So when Sidran’s founder and visionary, Esther Giller, was ready to retire, it made sense for TSI to carry forward its legacy.

Many of Sidran’s resources and programs will remain with TSI, including Risking Connection® trauma-informed care training, access to the Sidran Help Desk and Hotline List, and book sales. Innovative new offerings are on the horizon, so stay tuned and please take a look around.
