The Traumatic Stress Institute fosters the transformation of organizations and service systems to trauma-informed care (TIC) through the delivery of whole-system consultation, professional training, coaching, and research.

On June 10th we did a training on the Restorative Approach for 50 people representing many diverse agencies. We got good feedback. People liked the materials, the presenter’s expertise, the opportunity to discover what other programs were doing and share struggles, the examples, the tools, and the open dialogue. There were some great debates on such subjects as whether or not we were preparing the children for the “real world”. The participants shared much of their own expertise such as ideas for staff recognition, use of sensory materials, and ideas for making amends. One participant wrote on the evaluation: “Loved the information presented and the compassion that is embedded in the approach. Wish it was longer.” It was a good day.
